Emilie Gordon’s beloved Scotland and the world at large are in turmoil over a sudden illness. When an elderly Romani woman tasks her with traveling through the fabric of time to save and propagate the one thing that can combat this illness: a tiny mushroom that once grew in one small area of eastern Scotland in 900 CE, before a mad king battling Viking invaders applied a scorched earth policy and eradicated it. Emilie, now Ailith, manages to blend in with her Gordon clan and finds the vital pink mushrooms, but her involvement with William is not as smooth. Tall, blonde, and with a build that rivals any model athlete in her time, Ailith is surprisingly attracted to the man – and she has no problem showing him that attraction. But William wants more than her body, he craves her heart. And he seems willing to do anything to win it.
